Testing Details and Preparation Tools
Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST)
The Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is a statewide progress monitoring system aligned with the Benchmarks of Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards. Students in Grades 3–10 take FAST assessments in ELA Reading and Mathematics three times per year to track learning growth.
Upcoming FAST Administration (PM1)
Students will participate in the first administration (PM1) of the FAST assessments on scheduled testing dates. These results are for informational purposes only and will be shared with families once testing is complete.
About the FAST Assessments
- Format: Computer-adaptive tests taken on a computer or tablet.
- Question Count: Each test includes 35–40 items covering the full range of grade-level standards.

Testing Policies to Review with Your Student
Electronic Devices
Students may not access electronic devices (e.g., cell phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth headphones) during testing or breaks. Violations may result in test invalidation.
Calculator Policy
- Grade 6 Mathematics: Four-function calculator permitted
- Grades 7–8 Mathematics: Scientific calculator permitted
Testing Rules Acknowledgment
Before testing, students must confirm they understand the rules. Violations may result in invalidation of scores.
Secure Test Content
Students may not discuss or share test content after testing, including via text, email, or social media. This ensures the integrity of the assessment.
Working Independently
Students must complete their own work and protect their answers. Cheating will result in test invalidation.
Testing Accommodations
If your student has an IEP, 504 Plan, or is an English Language Learner (ELL), please contact the school to discuss accommodations.
Testing Irregularities
If an irregularity occurs, students may be asked questions and may need to retake the test to ensure valid results.
Extra Time
Students actively working at the end of the regular session may receive extra time. Students not actively engaged (e.g., sleeping) may be dismissed.
